This fellowship is not perfect. We Unitarian Universalists have guidelines to follow, and we talk about progressing every Sunday. We believe in duty over belief and creativity over tradition. However, members still have trouble showing inclusion in the fellowship by not using the correct pronouns of LGBTQ+ members all of the time. The members of our fellowship are not about putting on a show or continuing tradition. This fellowship is always about practice, learning, & progress. We reunite and communicate more every Sunday. This post is about the humanness of all people. We make mistakes and we are still loved. All we need to do here is observe the needs of the troop in order to keep being a team.
I know that there are pronouns that are actually preferred, but at least practicing using the pronoun “they” is a statement of validation. We want to be a witness to all our members, so practicing another’s reality instead of hiding them is an expression of love. Let’s work on correcting members’ use of pronouns and we will enrich our lives together. To an LGBTQ+ member of society, the pronouns are not “preferred,” they are real. The pronoun is actually them. I still have to practice the pronoun, “fae.” However, this fellowship is not an ‘end-all’ way of life. I hope to improve in this fellowship. This is always the goal. Love should always be the goal.
Equality is the peak of anything in humanity. Once there it is hard to go back. Even being a queer member of society, it is hard for me to understand some heterosexuality because equality is the height of life, not a thing to hide.
Stay a blessing.
