Today our service was about Bison. We learned a bit of the history of bison. Connie gave an excellent service about how important the bison are to the Indigenous People of America. One fun fact: bison are also known as buffalo, white people called them buffalo due to their resemblance to water buffalo. However the American bison is more closely related to cattle than it is to the water buffalo! Connie also brought in some books and a film she recommended. Making Nature Sacred by John Gatta, Walking on the Wind by Michael Garrett, Native American Wisdom edited by Kent Nerburn and Louise Mengelkoch, and The American Buffalo, a film by Ken Burns, pictured below for reference.
